It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing today that the 2020 Big Red Bash has been cancelled.

This decision is based on our utmost focus on ensuring the health and safety of everyone involved in the event from patrons, crew, volunteers, artists, vendors and local communities. We know this won’t be a surprise given the current coronavirus situation. It’s now very important that everyone stays home and stays safe.

This decision was made last week after an internal meeting with our key event team. Since then, we’ve been working around the clock to ensure the best possible outcome is achieved for you the patrons, who have supported the Big Red Bash from its inception in 2013. We’ve contacted dozens of stakeholders including key event crew and contractors, land owners, artist managers, tourism bodies, sponsors, suppliers, local businesses and Oztix who look after our event ticketing. I’m sure you can appreciate that this takes time to bring together before enabling a public announcement. 

In these uncertain times we wanted to provide some certainty and guarantee our patrons would have all their questions answered, along with a smooth and simple process to enable you to move forward with your personal plans for 2020 and 2021.

Whilst this is obviously very disappointing for those who were looking forward to this year's Bash, it needs to be put in perspective against Australia’s fight against the Coronavirus, and the wide ranging impacts it's having on everyone across Australia at this challenging time.

During these difficult times we all need some hope and we all still have dreams. That is what keeps us going. To keep these hopes and dreams alive, our passionate and dedicated event team are now moving forward and focusing on the planning needed to deliver the best ever Big Red Bash in 2021.

All of our wonderful Australian artists remain committed to being part of the Big Red Bash next year for which we sincerely thank them. 

We look forward to bringing people together from every corner of this great land, gathering under the desert skies to celebrate Australian music and mateship from the 6th to 8th July 2021. 


We know that many of our 2020 patrons would be planning to come to the Bash in 2021 once we are on the other side of the current crisis.

So, all tickets to the 2020 Big Red Bash automatically become valid for the 2021 Big Red Bash. If you are planning to keep your Big Red Bash dream alive you don’t need to do anything, other than hold onto your tickets and put next year’s dates in your diary. 


For those who would prefer a refund of their 2020 tickets that will be provided if requested, excluding booking and processing charges. 

In order to provide our 2020 ticket holders with plenty of time to decide whether or not they want to retain their ticket for 2021 we are giving ticket holders up to 30 September to be able to request a refund. We know that many people would prefer not to have to decide about whether or not they can come to the Bash next year at this challenging time. 

That means you are able to request and receive a refund at any time between now and the 30 September 2020, a period of over 6 months

As many would know the 2020 Bash was fully sold out last October, nine months before the event. However, as we start providing refunds to our 2020 ticket holders who are unable to attend in 2021 these tickets will become available for sale to the public. We intend placing the first round of these refunded tickets back on sale sometime during May, once we have a better understanding of how many become available.

Despite this situation our job now is to remain positive and get on with planning.
