After a hugely successful sold out event in 2019, and an unfortunate COVID cancellation in 2020, the world’s most remote music festival is set to return with its biggest ever lineup of iconic Aussie rock acts this July 6-8, when Paul Kelly and many other Oz music legends hit Outback Queensland’s Simpson Desert for the 2021 Big Red Bash.
Paul is looking forward to headlining the 2021 Big Red Bash and experiencing the desert landscape and said “I’m really looking forward to playing under a big sky again.”
Paul Kelly will be joined by a festival-record 19 Australian music greats, including Ian Moss, Tim Finn, John Williamson, Kate Ceberano, Ian Moss, Shannon Noll, Dragon, The Radiators, Mi Sex, Wendy Matthews, Thirsty Merc, Marc Gable, Dragon, Glenn Shorrock, Caitlin Shadbolt and more.
Collectively, the bumper artist line up has won more than 25 ARIA awards and 27 CMAA awards, as well as releasing over 100 albums and countless hit singles.
So get your friends and family together, bring the kids and the dog if you like, and start planning for an outback adventure of a lifetime.
Every July, Birdsville’s iconic Big Red Bash kicks off under the open skies of Australia’s Simpson Desert. Thousands of people from around Australia, and the world, head into the desert for the most remote music festival on the planet.
It all starts with the journey. Whether you set out on a road trip, hop on a plane or jump on the Rock'n'Roll Charter Bus you’re in for an epic outback adventure. Birdsville’s concert is definitely off the beaten track – but that’s what makes it so special!
And, if you want to camp for longer, our early entry passes let you access the Bashville campsite up to two days beforehand.
However you get there, you’ll have three nights under the stars, dancing to the sweet sounds of Aussie music legends as they rock the desert.
And, there’s plenty of fun during the day too. You’ll find heaps of exciting activities to cross off your bucket list and keep the family entertained.
So, what are you waiting for? You’ve never had a better reason to get your family or friends together and head into the outback. Grab your camping gear, hook up the trailer or caravan or hire a tent. But don’t miss out on your chance to get down in the red dust at this fantastic all-ages Australian outback music festival. Everyone’s invited. You can even bring your dog!
“I’m not kidding you when I say that it’s one of the greatest events I’ve ever personally been part of. And some of the greatest artists from around the country will gather to perform there again next year. Everything that ailed me in Melbourne was suddenly cured when I got out to the Simpson Desert last time, and I can't wait to get back out there for Big Red Bash 2021”
Birdsville Big Red Bash event extensions are funded under the
Year of Outback Tourism Events Program
during the Year of Outback Tourism 2019.
